Welcome to The Tontine Hotel

The Tontine Hotel, a charming establishment located at 13 Tontine Hill in Ironbridge, Telford, boasts a commendable rating of 4.1. This historic hotel, established in 1784, offers a unique glimpse into the past while accommodating modern travelers seeking comfort and convenience. Nestled opposite the iconic Iron Bridge—an engineering marvel and symbol of the industrial revolution—The Tontine Hotel serves as an excellent base for exploring the rich heritage of the region.

One of the standout features of The Tontine Hotel is its welcoming atmosphere. Customers frequently commend the attentive staff, whose top-notch service makes each guest feel valued. Sarah Kemp, a recent visitor, praised the hotel's dining options during her stay. She raved about the Sunday roast, stating it was "amazing," with generous portions and delectable gravy. The staff even went above and beyond to cater to her child’s dietary preferences, showcasing their dedication to hospitality. Such attention to detail emphasizes the hotel’s commitment to ensuring every guest has a memorable experience.

While the hotel enjoys an enviable location, some guests have noted that the rooms, though spacious and equipped with amenities like free Wi-Fi, could benefit from a refresh. Jas Kaur, who returned after a previous visit, expressed a desire for room upgrades, indicating that some aspects of decor and cleanliness may require attention. Nevertheless, the combination of comfort and historical charm continues to draw visitors back, driven by the hotel's prime location and proximity to attractions such as the Museum of the Gorge and Blists Hill Victorian Town.

Guests can unwind in the hotel bar, open to the public, which offers a relaxed space to socialize over a drink. Pete Goodison, who enjoyed a two-night stay, found the service in the bar exemplary, further highlighting the hotel's friendly and attentive atmosphere. This welcoming approach, combined with the delicious food and substantial portions served in the hotel's restaurant, makes The Tontine Hotel an excellent lodging choice for travelers seeking both comfort and a taste of local culture.

In conclusion, The Tontine Hotel stands as a testament to the historical significance of Ironbridge while catering to modern travelers. With its charming ambiance, delicious food, and exceptional service, it provides a memorable experience. Although some areas may need a bit of sprucing up, the warm hospitality and unique setting make it a worthy destination for anyone visiting this beautiful part of the United Kingdom.

We went twice whilst on holiday. Once for Sunday roast which was amazing. Great food, lots of it and gravy was delicious. Staff were so helpful with a fussy 11yr old and make him something different plus he got ice-cream thrown in. Also had lunch and 2 huge jacket potatoes with lots of filling and salad with homemade coleslaw. Would highly recommend and will definitely be back next visit.

Stayed before in 2018 was hoping the rooms might have been refurbished by now. They are still as they were then. Just need a spruce up and a good clean. Stayed again because of the location, right opposite the bridge. Was a bit disappointed that there was no food but went to a nearby restaurant which was amazing, D'Arcys at the station.

Had a 2 night stay here, can't fault the place really, the rooms are a good size, and spotlessly clean, the beds are comfortable and the level of service is 2nd to none. The hotel bar ( open to the public) area ,is large and has ample seating, the bar itself is well stocked with everything from tea and coffee to wines and spirits and again the level of service is excellent. As for food , I only had breakfast but what a breakfast it was , I opted for the full English breakfast and wasn't disappointed, top quality produce cooked to perfection and although there were multiple other options available for breakfast,I would highly recommend the full English. Those were the good bits , I did have a couple of small niggles...the shower in my room didn't work ( not too much of an issue I prefer a bath anyway) , the shaving light in the bathroom didn't work and there was some unsightly wiring on the wall next to the TV , my room had a great view over the Ironbridge but the room suffered a little bit at night being close to the road and not having any double glazing , there was at times some significant noise issues but on the whole I would definitely recommend the Tontine as a place to stay and I would happily stay there again and very probably will do
